FINAL STEPS:

Here we touch on some of the final steps to creating a bowl for you.  After we have 'carved' out its final form and hollowed out the interior of the bowl, we now begin the process of finishing the final form.  Sanding is very important to the final form.  At Shafer Bowls we recognize this and we sand from 80 -100-120-180-220-320-400-wet sand 600-1200 grits to achieve a mirror-like finish and then we wipe the surfaces down with denatured alcohol and then buff with fine compounds.   The last step is the Waterlox we use to gain the final finish.  Usually applied in three coats with buffing in between we can produce a flawless finish to Shafer Bowls.  With an epoxy bowl the cost are very high in terms of labor and supplies.  That is why epoxy bowls are not cheap.  We use a formula for arriving at a price so each piece is price adjusted to fairness.
